color types

We will be explaining body features and color morphs in Medaka rice fish, To help you gain a better understanding on the different types.
Pigment and Genetic scale types:
Iridophores:
iridophores are pigment cells that reflect light to create iridescence and structural colors. They are made up of guanine-containing organelles that reflect light and are arranged in an orderly pattern.
They have four pigment cells; black, yellow, white, and rainbow. Albinos exist because the individual has no pigment.
Body types:
The Medaka rice fish has four main body variants. Even though “Hikari” are traditionally a a body color, they are now classified as a body variant.
Normal variant: The shape of the wild Medaka.
Dharma variant: Has a small, mutated, and rounded body.
Semi Dharma variant: They’re like a mix of the normal and Dharma variants. They are larger than Dharma, but smaller than the normal Variant.
Hikari Variant: They have a dimond shaped tail fin with an external light body.
Fin Types:

Long-fin
All or some fins will be longer. Unlike swallows, the entire fin extends. -
Swallow
All or some fins will be longer. Unlike Long-fin, part of the fin grows like distorted hair. -
Samurai
Hikari body medaka back fin is divided into too. -





Medaka color Features
LAMÉ
Lamé are a Beautiful Medaka where each of their scales shine individually. This happens because iridophore gathers on the scales.Usually ranging from their head to their tail. Actually, Lamé means “glitter” in Japanese. A lot of Medaka Have Lame scales including the wild type Medaka. generally speaking Medaka Is classified as lame if the fish has 20 or more Individual lame scales. Common Medaka classified a lame type include; Ulysses, Aurora, Diamond dust, Tricolor lamé, and sapphire just to name a few.
Outerlight
The Beautiful Iridescent outer light Medaka, The Iridophores gather on their back making their back shine. Like the Lamé Medaka the shining scales extend from their tail to their head. Miyuki are the most common of the outer light Medaka. Miyuki have a platinum and/or blueish outer light, Did you know they can even be green or gold? Unlike other outer light types, Miyuki can be ‘graded’ based on their level of outerlight.
Extreme light:(high grade)
their outer light extends from the tail fin all the way to the mouth.
Strong super light: The outlet light extends from their eyes to their back.
Strong light: half of their back has outer light.
Weak light:(low grade) Only a small portion of their Back has outer light.
Some common outer light type Medaka are; red cliff, Miyuki, and tri color Miyuki just to name a few.
Inner light
The Inner Light Medaka also called the Medalampadina. Inner Light Medaka have either Blue, white and sometimes green inner light appearing only on their back. Did you know it’s impossible to see their breathtaking inner light from the side? Inner light that extend to the pectoral fin are called “super inner light,” and regarded as high grade. Other inner light like deep sea medaka have the inner light exclusively on their stomach, and have clear body.
