Our Story
Located in beautiful sunny California, our team is Devoted to bringing pedigree, rare and unique strains of Medaka to the scarce variety available in the United States. We are a small team of Medaka enthusiasts dedicated to offering a wider variety of Medaka to meet the growing interest of Medaka keepers. Medakacity takes great pride in cultivating and preserving these pedigree lines and their unique features for generations to come.
In Japan, Medaka culture is deeply integrated, our mission is to spread Medaka culture around the United States. They are not just pets, but a symbol of beauty and peace. Medakacity uses traditional breeding methods, and don't focus on mass production, but simply quality. We breed in 'Medaka bowls' with homemade spawning mops made of yarn. Out of a group of 20-50 individuals, We chose 5-10 of the Medaka with the most desirable traits. The rest of the Medaka that have desirable glitter (lame) or external light will be sold as 'assorted' or 'culls.' Any Medaka we don't want to sell will be put in a random medaka for show.
